Global Resource Alliance and Ring Shout Project will host a free community event with food, music, art, and education to raise awareness and support for Global Resource Alliance’s work for a natural, holistic, and sustainable approach to poverty in the Lake Victoria region of Tanzania. This Sunday, April 6, from 1-4 p.m., enjoy regional food, live blues music, an African bazaar, and view a short documentary that talks about the work Global Resource Alliance has done. The special highlight of the afternoon will be S.B.’s Ring Shout Project performing a spiritual dance brought to the United States by African slaves. There will also be a photography exhibit, Faces of Africa: From Ojai to Tanzania and Back Again, with sales benefiting the Alliance’s efforts. An African Afternoon will be held at the Ojai Center for the Arts (113 S. Montgomery St., Ojai). Call 640-3645 for more information.
