The Santa Barbara School Board tentatively approved the dedication of $100,000 of state funds for two gang intervention specialists, who will each make between $31,000-$39,000, plus benefits. To determine the specific job descriptions, the board also approved the formation of a steering committee, comprised of two boardmembers and Superintendent Brian Sarvis, that will flesh out the details of the positions as well as oversight of the employees once they are hired. The matter returns for final approval next week. (/schoolboard925)
