• Enjoy a delicious way to support a good cause: the S.B. Rape Crisis Center’s 2nd Annual Chocolate de Vine. Put on your cocktail attire on Saturday, November 8, at the Carriage and Western Art Museum (129 Castillo St.), from 7-10 p.m. for a mouth-watering celebration of chocolate and wine. The evening features a judged competition of chocolate creations by area chefs, wine tasting, live entertainment by Somos Son, and a live auction. • Celebrate the Hearts Adaptive Riding Center’s new Hearts Heroes Program, a therapeutic horseback riding and horsemanship curriculum specifically designed for U.S. veterans with a service-connected disability. • Help your neighbors build better opportunities! The S.B. Public Library System’s Adult Literacy Program seeks volunteers to work as one-on-one tutors at all branch libraries. Volunteer tutors meet once or twice a week to help adult learners reach their personal goals, such as getting a better job, mastering difficult skills, or helping their children. The library provides free materials, training, and support. The next training course will be Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13, from noon-4:30 p.m. Class meets at the Townley Room in the S.B. Public Library (40 E. Anapamu St.).
