• Celebrate the Hearts Adaptive Riding Center’s new Hearts Heroes Program, a therapeutic horseback riding and horsemanship curriculum specifically designed for U.S. veterans with a service-connected disability. Enjoy a free luncheon on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and learn more about this exciting new program. Call 964-1519 to RSVP.

• Help your neighbors build better opportunities! The S.B. Public Library System’s Adult Literacy Program seeks volunteers to work as one-on-one tutors at all branch libraries. Volunteer tutors meet once or twice a week to help adult learners reach their personal goals, such as getting a better job, mastering difficult skills, or helping their children. The library provides free materials, training, and support. The next training course will be Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13, from noon-4:30 p.m. Class meets at the Townley Room in the S.B. Public Library (40 E. Anapamu St.). Call 564-5619 or visit for more info.
