Despite regularly drawing a bustling weekday lunch crowd, Savoy Cafe closed the doors of its location at 24 West Figueroa Street on 12/1. Owner Paul Shields did not return calls to The Independent as of press time, but a note on the restaurant’s door did thank longtime customers for more than three years of patronage before the eatery was “forced to close.” Popular though Savoy was for lunch, its off-hours crowd was often sparse.
