Throwing the (Cook)Book at Trader Joe’s
New Cookbook Makes Recipes Out of the Groovy Grocery Store
Trader Joe’s is not your usual grocery store. Quirky. Fun. Affordable. In truth, it’s a great stand-in for an entire kitchen prep crew. Various sauces, prewashed vegetables, prepped and frozen meats, and other items await assemblage in a mere matter of minutes. How to assemble them, however, can be a little daunting. This is where two foodie MIT engineering grads with hectic lives but discerning palates have come in, dishing up recipe ideas with the publication of their cookbook, Cooking with All Things Trader Joe’s. Deana Gunn and Wona Miniati are unabashed one-stop shopping Trader Joe’s fans. They have been wowing their friends and families for years with dishes made with items found at their favorite store. More than 120 recipes in the book cover the gamut from breakfast (Mushroom Basil Fritatta) to dessert (Very Berry Mascarpone Tart) and everything in between. The book is not from Trader Joe’s, although it has been seen being toted down its aisles. It is, however, available at bookstores, including Chaucer’s, and makes a great gift for any Trader Joe’s aficionado.
