All it takes is a single stagnant pool of water to provide the perfect breeding grounds for millions of disease carrying mosquitoes. As a result, the Mosquito and Vector Management District of Santa Barbara County is urging victims of last November’s Tea Fire to be mindful of bodies of water that may currently be neglected on their burnt out properties. Officials, fearing that swimming pools, hot tubs, and garden pools will become prime mosquito habitat as spring approaches, have been inspecting properties and thus far have treated 28 of 168 for being potential mosquito hazards. Anyone who thinks they may have such a situation on their property is being asked to contact Vector Control at (805) 969-5050.
