This Sunday kicks off the S.B. Museum of Natural History’s (2559 Puesta del Sol) special Darwin Week celebration-a series of fun and educational events to celebrate the 200th birthday of the legendary naturalist, as well as the 150th anniversary of his groundbreaking book, The Origin of Species. The following is a roundup of the exciting, not-to-be-missed festivities:

• Sunday, February 8, at 3 p.m.: Darwin Remembers: A look at the scientist’s life and work through a historical reenactment by Darwin impersonator Floyd Sanford.

• Monday, February 9, at 7 p.m.: Reaction to Darwin’s Theory: A reenactment of a heated 1860 debate between an evolutionary biologist and a Catholic bishop about the validity of The Origin of Species.

• Tuesday, February 10, at 7 p.m.: Teaching Evolution in the 21st Century: Forum on science in modern education with biologists from UCSB, SBCC, and Westmont College.
