News stations KEYT, KSYB, KCOY, Telemundo, and Univision switched from analog to digital broadcast on 2/17 despite the federal government’s extension of the conversion deadline to 6/12. The Federal Communications Commission approved the transition so long as one channel continued analog broadcast of news, weather, and emergency info for an estimated 19,970 TV-owning households unequipped for digital broadcasts. KCOY volunteered to be this station. (/digital219)

Santa Barbara Channels, South County’s public access TV station, is moving from its downtown Santa Barbara location to a larger facility at 7000 Hollister Avenue in Goleta. Executive Director Hap Freund said Channels will occupy the 8,100-square-foot building, formerly the home of Spanish-language KPMR-TV, by May, and will get more space for cheaper rent.
