Plenty of red will pour Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. when Oreana Winemaking Company continues its “Cinema in the Cellar” series with a screening of Army of Darkness, Sam Raimi’s over-the-top yukfest. (That is, it’ll make you laugh and say yuk.) Oreana’s Christian Garvin has come up with a brilliant idea: Turn the parking lot at Oreana into a makeshift drive-in movie theater. But instead of your cars, you have to bring chairs. And instead of stale popcorn, you get freshly popped with real butter, and instead of LottaLemon by the gallon-full, you get to drink good wine. The film is free, the food and drink cost, but a good gory time will be had by all. (If you haven’t seen the film, impossibly square-jawed Bruce Campbell time travels and much hilarity and comic book violence ensue. But the film does make one thing clear: If you ever get sucked through a time portal, bring the chainsaw.) Last month’s screening of Mothra vs. Godzilla was jam-packed, so get there early – people like to have wine with cheesy cinema, it seems.
