Santa Barbara County will now be home to two state-funded parolee day reporting centers—one in the North County and one in Santa Barbara—which will reportedly help those recently released from prison to gain skills and adapt to life in the real world. The centers will be able to treat up to 300 of the more than 1,000 people who return to the county each year after stints in prison, and are “designed to attack behaviors and conditions that create crime,” Sheriff Bill Brown said.
