Longtime KSBY television news anchor Tony Cipolla will be leaving next month after 20 years with the station. Cipolla, who has won numerous awards at the station, told the San Luis Obispo Tribune he was leaving because management was offering him a salary with a 40 percent pay cut which was on top of a 25 percent pay cut he took three years ago. In a press release from the station, the director of marketing said the reality was Cipolla wanted to earn the salary of both an anchor and a news director even though he hadn’t done the latter job in five years. Still, the release said, station management was disappointed he was leaving and wished him the best.
