A FAR OFF PLACE

This Friday, July 16, from noon-5 p.m., the Santa Barbara Museum of Art’s Museum Store (1130 State St.) hosts Asian textile authority Edric Ong as part of a cultural event and trunk show. Ong will demonstrate traditional Iban ikat weaving, and handmade textiles will be available for purchase. For info, visit sbma.net.

SPELL IT OUT

Muddy Waters Café (508 E. Haley St.) will host a public artists’ reception for its current exhibit this Saturday, July 17, at 6 p.m. The show, titled Andi Garcia Presents: A D.AM.N. Art Show, features surrealist and realist work by locals Derek Harrison, Albert Montoya, and NomeLove, and hangs through July 28.

MADE IN CHINA

This Friday, July 16, at 7 p.m., Reds Wine Bar (211 Helena Ave.) will host a fundraiser for Santa Barbara Global Team Explorers, a group of local college students currently trying to produce their first film, Life and Culture in China.
