Ruth Miles, a 74-year-old homeless woman dependent on a wheelchair, died on 9/9 in a Lompoc hospital after several years on the streets. According to social worker Ken Williams, there are at least three other wheelchair-bound homeless women on the streets. Originally from Missouri, Miles spent time intermittently at Casa Esperanza over the last six years.
