The Santa Barbara Channels is the recipient of a 2010 Community Dividends Award from Montecito Bank and Trust.

“We are very excited to be among the 163 organizations to receive this recognition.” said Keri Stokstad, Executive Director, “This is the first time we’ve received this award and we’re grateful to Montecito Bank and Trust for acknowledging nonprofit organizations and providing support in this difficult economy.”

The Santa Barbara Channels has made great efforts to offset recent funding cuts. They recently completed a week long membership drive and “Telebration” event.

“We exist to promote free speech programming on Channel 17 and culture, arts and education programming on Channel 21,” said Stokstad, “We continue to explore new opportunities to partner with local nonprofits and communicate their missions to the community.”

The Santa Barbara Channels produces NonProfit Spotlight, a half hour program of 5-8 minute videos featuring local nonprofit organizations. These episodes are shot in the field and air repeatedly on Channel 21. They are also posted on their video website: and are a great marketing tool. Most nonprofits pay only $300 per segment; the bulk of the production cost is currently underwritten by an Orfalea Foundation grant.
