To help alleviate hunger in the Santa Barbara area, First Bank will be collecting non-perishable food items from now until December 22 for the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County.

“We encourage everyone to make a donation to food drive,” said Rosanna Colin, First Bank Branch Manager for First Bank in Santa Barbara. “There is an overwhelming need for food and other essential items this year. We invite people to stop by First Bank and fill up our food barrels so we can curtail hunger in our community.”

Collection barrels are set up inside the First Bank office at 3304 State Street. First Bank lobby hours are 9am to 5pm. Monday through Thursday, and 9am to 6pm on Fridays.

Non-perishable food items include peanut butter, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned stew and chili, canned meats, fruit juice, pasta, rice, beans, tuna, jelly, soup, cereal and coffe/tea. Diapers will also be accepted. Any First Bank branch representative can assist individuals with monetary donations.

The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is a non-profit organization working to eliminate hunger by providing food, education and other resources to a network of hunger-relief charities and their communities.
