YES !!! Monday, February 14, the K-LITE 101.7’S Morning Show hosted by Gary Fruin and Catherine Remak, will be all about love. Beginning at 6 a.m. Gary & Catherine will broadcast live for 12 hours taking requests for Love songs and dedications to benefit the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission.

The radio time will be devoted to educating the public on the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission’s Bethel House Women’s Residential Treatment Program for 24 women. It is a 12-month, faith centered, 12-step social model program. Residents are provided with a living and learning environment that addresses the issues of addiction in a holistic way. In contrast to national statistics that show only 21% of those who complete addiction recovery programs not returning to dependency within five years (SAMSHA 1998), more than 52% of the Mission’s graduates maintain recovery over this same time period.

K-LITE staff and Santa Barbara Rescue Mission Board Members and Volunteers are sharing this day of love in an effort to raise money and awareness with the Community.

Say “I Love You” with a song request and dedication and give a donation in the name of love to the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission. K-LITE Request Line: 805-879-5483.

The Santa Barbara Rescue Mission has served the county and city of Santa Barbara for 46 years, providing emergency services and long-term recovery for the homeless and addicted. With 80 beds for men and 20 for women and children, it is the only emergency shelter that is open 365 nights of the year from Santa Maria to Ventura. In 2010, the Mission provided 159,140 meals and 61,025 safe nights of shelter for individuals with no place else to turn. The Mission’s 12-month residential recovery program aims to bring individuals from decades of addiction, institutionalization, and homelessness back to sobriety, health and wholeness. Certification through the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs ensures that participants receive the highest standard of treatment in a non-medical facility.
