Take It Slower

We live in California, where it says in our Driver’s Handbook that the pedestrian has the right of way, but you would not know this by our drivers in this state.

Quite recently, my husband’s and my friend was hit by a car as he was crossing Turnpike; unfortunately for us he died as a result. The paper said the guy driving could not stop in time, but I have to believe that the driver was driving a little too fast. Every day on my street, which is Bradford, in a neighborhood where children and animals live, I see cars speeding way too fast.

I say to all drivers in this state: If you are not driving on the freeway then you need to drive slower and definitely look out for pedestrians. I am concerned as I was once hit by a car when crossing a street, but I was lucky enough to survive. Quite recently I was crossing at Storke Road near the highway on the green light when a motorist moved forward—but lucky for me saw me, so I was not hit.

I do not know about you other motorists, but for myself, I know that if I killed someone because I was not careful or observant enough it would bother me the rest of my life.

So drivers, wake up and realize you are driving a dangerous weapon. Please look out for pedestrians.
