The County of Santa Barbara, Board of Supervisors has awarded the construction of the 2010-11 Proposition 1B Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay project, for $1,217,938.42. The project is funded by Proposition 1B Local Streets and Roads, (Prop 1B-LSR) which are State bond funds dedicated to transportation infrastructure rehabilitation, repair and improvements.

These funds are being used to help maintain and improve roads throughout the County of Santa Barbara in the First, Second and Third Supervisorial Districts.

The work is scheduled to begin on March 14th, the Public Works Department will be cold planning the existing roadway to accommodate a hot mix asphalt concrete. The project will begin in the First Supervisorial District; however, San Ysidro Road will be the last order of work.

The contract for the 2010-2011 Proposition 1B Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay was awarded to Granite Construction Company.

The construction work should be completed by early May, 2011, contingent upon weather conditions. The County’s Public Work’s Department will administer and inspect the construction of this project.

The construction of the 2010-11 Proposition 1B Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay project work will be performed at the following unincorporated locations throughout the County of Santa Barbara:

First Supervisorial District:

Channel Drive from Fairway Road to City Limit

San Ysidro Road from Highway 192 to 685 San Ysidro Road

San Ysidro Road from 685 San Ysidro Road to Las Tunas Road

San Ysidro Road from Las Tunas Road to Mountain Drive

Second Supervisorial District:

Patterson Avenue from Cathedral Oaks Road to 725’ N. Cathedral Oaks Road

Patterson Avenue from 725’ N. Cathedral Oaks Road to West End

Third Supervisorial District:

El Colegio Road from Storke Road to 400’ W. Camino Del Sur

Camino Corto from @ Abrego Road to Intersection Work

Construction hours are scheduled Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and on Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There will be one lane opened with traffic control, and the traveling public should expect up to 15 minutes traffic delays. The Department encourages the travelling public to be aware of reduced speed zones and posted traffic control signs through out the construction site.
