Delicious Details Revealed for 19th Annual Taste of Solvang
To celebrate Solvang’s rich culinary and cultural heritage, the Taste of Solvang features international cuisine, locally grown foods, wines and live entertainment since 1993. During Solvang’s Centennial year celebration, the 19th annual event kicks off on Friday, March 18, 2011, from 7:00-9:00pm with a scrumptious Dessert Reception at the Solvang Veterans Hall, 1745 Mission Drive, offering tempting delicacies from: Café Angelica, Cowboy Way BBQ (New for 2011), El Rancho Market, Ingeborg’s Danish Chocolates, Nielsen’s Market, Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery, Red Viking Restaurant, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Solvang Bakery. Dessert-style wines will be offered by Carivintas Winery; Lions Peak Vineyard & Winery and the Wandering Dog Wine Bar. Live jazz music by the Alan Satchwell Quartet will accompany the sweets.
On Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 11:00 am-4:00pm, the Walking Smorgaasbord features 40 taste stops around the village at bakeries, restaurants, hotels and retailers offering “bites and sips” of a wide variety of food and drinks. Detailed maps and the “menu” will be provided with ticket purchase plus valuable coupons for future savings.
On Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 5:00-8:00pm, savor the Wine Tasting Room Walk with these 12 vintners pouring their vintages into the souvenir Taste of Solvang etched wine glass: Addamo Vineyards (New for 2011), Carivintas Winery, Dascomb Cellars (New for 2011), Lions Peak Vineyard & Winery, Lucas & Lewellen, Mandolina, Olive House, Presidio Vineyard & Winery, Solvang Brewing Company (New for 2011 featuring beer tasting), Sort This Out Cellars, Tastes of the Valleys Wine Bar and Wandering Dog Wine Bar.
On Sunday, March 20, 2011, from Noon-3:00pm enjoy BYOP–Bring Your Own Picnic in Solvang Park (at Mission Drive & First Street) featuring free, continuous live entertainment. Picnic ingredients are available at many local establishments including El Rancho Market, Nielsen’s Market, New Frontiers Natural Marketplace and Vin Hus. Experience a joyous afternoon complete with long picnic blanket winding through the Park—a comfortable place to relax.
