Press Release

Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute (CIMWI, pronounced “sim-wee”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making a difference through marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, research, and education to promote ocean and human health. CIMWI is a part of the Marine Mammal Health and Stranding Response Program under the direction of NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service. CIMWI’s facility is located at the historic Vista Del Mar School campus along the Gaviota coast. Since CIMWI began its operation in June 2006, the organization has rescued and treated over 245 seals, sea lions, and dolphins.

On Saturday, April 9th, 7:00pm-9:00pm, CIMWI is hosting a fundraiser at Oreana Winery to benefit marine mammal rehabilitation. Tickets are $25.00 per person in advance or $30.00 at the door. Each ticket includes appetizers, desserts, one Oreana wine ticket, one Brewhouse beer ticket, and one raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets will be for sale at the event and there will be a silent auction for higher valued items. Oreana will be pouring wines with a specially designed label for CIMWI. These wines will also be available for sale at the event with a percentage of the sales being donated to CIMWI.

Come enjoy some Oreana wine, Brewhouse beer, and food provided by Epicurean Cowboy Catering, Sojourner Cafe, Marmalade Cafe, Rincon Catering, crepes yum yum, and more! The Kinsella Band will be providing live music at CIMWI’s fundraiser.

Raffle and silent auction prizes have been donated by many local businesses including Condor Express, Patagonia, Akari Salon, Blush Restaurant & Lounge, and Scott Price Photography.

Each event ticket is a non-refundable, tax-deductible donation to CIMWI. When you arrive at Oreana for the event, check-in at the registration desk for your drink and raffle tickets.
