Thud. Back in Cleveland Heights, OH, my home base, lining up to be reading palms at various gatherings and festivals. FloydFest in Virginia, Where Womyn Gather in Pennsylvania. WisCon in Madison, Wisconsin. I will develop an itinerary and keep you posted on my whereabouts.

In the mean time, here is an overview of reading your entire hand as a symbol.

One way to think about having your palms read is that the reader is interpreting symbols, as in reading a poem of your life. One of the pitfalls of palmistry is the aura built up around the procession of practitioners that try to interpret the lines literally, and the ensuing procession of negative critics of such readers.

Opening Palms

However, a line may be telling you something, and you have to search your soul to figure out what it is. A good palm reader, while holding your hand — this she may do literally — can do that right along with you.

For example, a short life line can mean a break in vitality. This may mean illness or a change in a system of living that causes loss to vitality, such as being uprooted by job loss or relocation. Any therapist can tell you that job loss or relocation can be a sort of death. The lines on your hand may be telling you the same thing. Dreams that include death do not necessarily mean you will drop dead the next day—just as the death card in a tarot reading frequently is a sign of transformation.

So, your life line stops at a certain age? Think about how your life has altered. After transformations, do you go about your life in a new way? If you haven’t crossed such a moment yet, be prepared for sudden transformation.

The life line? That is the one that starts between your thumb and your pointer, curves outward across the palm to the center of your hand, and then plummets down towards the wrist.

Try comparing the length of that line on your left hand, if you are right handed, to the one on the right. If the life line is longer on the left hand, you have the potential to live longer than you would if you were to continue living the way you do currently. What does that symbolize? Learn how to love taking better care of yourself, and do so.
