Miller-McCune Names Steve Ainsley President and Publisher
Former News-Press Publisher Returning to Santa Barbara
Strengthening its position in the marketplace, Miller-McCune magazine has named P. Steven Ainsley, former publisher of the Boston Globe, President and Publisher. Ainsley brings to the title three decades of senior management experience with The New York Times Company.
The role marks a return to Santa Barbara publishing for Ainsley—he was publisher of the Santa Barbara News-Press from 1993-1999. He has also served as Senior VP, President/COO of The New York Times Regional Media Group, and publisher of several daily newspapers.
“During the past 3 years, Miller-McCune has focused on developing its editorial mission and pursuing editorial excellence. To sustain that mission and take Miller-McCune to new heights, now is the time to invest in the business side of the equation,” said Sara Miller McCune, Founder and Executive Chair, Miller-McCune. “We are excited to tap into Steve’s deep knowledge of the publishing industry and broad understanding of various models for success. Perhaps as important, he shares our belief in the ability of media to positively transform society.”
Ainsley has held directorships on the boards of several not-for-profit agencies in the communities where he has worked. He has been recognized as Santa Barbara Humanitarian of the Year, and Santa Barbara’s Anti-Defamation League Person of the Year and Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. He has been a guest lecturer at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management and Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business, and was commencement speaker at the University of North Alabama in 2008.
Ainsley holds degrees from New York University and Emory University’s Advanced Management Program. He will reside in Santa Barbara, California.
