Eat, Drink, and Be Charitable
Share Our Strength Serves Up the Annual Taste of the Nation
In Santa Barbara County, the amount of families served by Foodbank that have an annual income below the federal poverty level is a shocking 62 percent. That means there’s a lot of childhood hunger in our midst, and one of the best fundraisers to fight that is Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation event on Sunday, June 5, from 3-6 p.m. at the Montecito Country Club (920 Summit Rd.). More than 25 fine food purveyors and 25 fine wineries will serve up their goods for the crowd to enjoy while perusing silent and loud auction items (the Palm will be this year’s auctioneer). The names to draw you in include Blush, Ca’ Dario, Coast at The Canary Hotel, San Ysidro Ranch, The Savoy, and Wine Cask; Alma Rosa, Beckmen, Brander, Carr, and Lucas & Lewellen; and if that isn’t enough, there’s the Brewhouse, Firestone, Telegraph, St. Germain, and Santa Barbara Cigar & Tobacco. There are all kinds of “dress up, eat, and drink” events in our community, but annually this is one of the best. Tickets are $65 in advance or $75 at the door (if available) and can be purchased by calling 1 (877) 26-TASTE or visiting TasteOfTheNation.org.
