The Fund for Santa Barbara announced this week that it will pay a two-year grant to Santa Barbara Channelkeeper, a nonprofit that works to prevent environmental degradation of the Santa Barbara Channel. The grant, which will provide Channelkeeper with $8,000 a year, was allotted to the organization’s “Clean Water Advocacy and Enforcement Program.” It will go toward lobbying to update the sewage infrastructure for the city and reducing county-wide plastic bag use. The grant was announced as a part of the fund’s mid-year grants, which total more than $100,000.
