The 27th Annual Central Coast Wine Classic Returns
People might know the Central Coast Wine Classic (CCWC) as the event with the impossible-to-get-into Hearst Castle dinner (heck, I volunteer to work in its kitchen just to see what it’s like). But while that glam event is expensive and booked every year, the CCWC has plenty more to offer for food and wine lovers, while also bringing in big bucks for charities (since 2004, the total in grants is more than $1.5 mil to 76 nonprofit organizations on the Central Coast). The 2011 Central Coast Wine Classic will take place July 7-10 in and around the Avila Beach Golf Resort, and its newest event is a VIP Outdoor Dinner and Concert on Friday, July 8, featuring acclaimed percussionist Airto Moreira. “This year we return to the community of Avila Beach, one of the most remarkable destinations imaginable, where we will host our first concert, aptly titled the Rejuvenation of Avila Beach Through Rhythm concert,” said founder and chair Archie McLaren. “Healing through rhythm and drums is used globally, and this year, we’ve invited some of the world’s most renowned performers for this exceptional evening under the stars.” There’s more, too: a fine wine auction and luncheon Saturday, a rare wine tasting Sunday, plus winemaker dinners throughout the area.
