The non-profit organization honors outstanding individuals in the community and celebrates excellence in design. Santa Barbara Beautiful has been holding Awards Ceremonies every year since the founding of the organization in 1965.

Honorees this year include Lady Leslie Ridley-Tree; Karen Ramsdell, Airport Director for the City of Santa Barbara; Gary Atkins Sound Systems and the Community Environmental Council (CEC).

Property awards to projects include the recently renovated Santa Barbara Airport Terminal, which will receive the esteemed “President’s Award.” Other projects receiving recognition include Public Art, Public Housing, Open Spaces, Waterfront Improvements and Private Residences.

At the Music Academy of the West garden reception, music will be provided by Sol y Mar amidst red-carpet interviews by premier local reporter John Palminteri. Local selections from Kunin Winery will be served and the event will be catered by Lorraine Lim Catering. Inside Hahn Hall, Hannah-Beth Jackson will be the Emcee and Paul J. Willis, the City of Santa Barbara’s current Poet Laureate, will recite a poem during the presentation. Award-winning properties will be shown in a high definition video to those in attendance.

Santa Barbara Beautiful is an organization of volunteers dedicated to beautifying our area in a variety of ways not only by working independently but also by partnering with city departments, neighborhood associations and other agencies. Formed in 1965 by concerned civic leaders, Santa Barbara Beautiful is a non-political, non-profit, tax-exempt corporation. The organization provides funds to support and assist community groups and businesses in beautifying Santa Barbara through landscaping, and public art and recognizes outstanding contributions in those areas through its Annual Awards presentation each September.
