American Wine Society Santa Barbara Chapter Presents Second Event
The theme is “Merlot, the wine that gets no respect”. Merlot has recovered somewhat since the lashing it received by the character Miles in the 2004 movie “Sideways.”
However, it still has an identity crisis. “We plan to expose you to a number of credible Merlot selections, from regions where good examples of this varietal are produced in a blind tasting format,” said Jacky Lopez head of the chapter. “By tasting good examples of this varietal sourced from distinguished growing regions including, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Australia, Washington State, Chile and Bordeaux, side by side you may learn the nuances of the wines produced in the different areas.”
Only 30 tickets are available; the cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Guests will also enjoy, light hors d’oeuvres.
