Geneva de la Rouge is one of the first four professional Aestheticians in Santa Barbara and one of the few in Southern California who offers the treatments that she does with the energetic healing method called Phytobiodermie. She has an office at 3530 State St in Studio One Salon.

“I strive to bring ethics and credibility to the industry,” de la Rouge said. “I consider myself an educator.” She has taught pro bono advanced training to students at the Santa Barbara City College Cosmetology Department.

“I consider it a profession, not just a job,” de la Rouge said of her work. “I don’t do fluffy facials.” Her work includes treatments for acne and other skin conditions with organic products, and custom blended energetic oils.

Some years ago, she came across the healing method called Phytobiodermie, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic principles. It allows her to work with the source of the problem; release blockages, balance, tone, lift, energize and detoxify with light.

“Phytobiodermie is energetic healing from the inside out,” de la Rouge said. “It is a method created in Switzerland more than 50 years ago.”

De la Rouge’s work with cancer patients, drug and alcohol addiction, weight loss, acne and simply aging skin can be seen in the testimonies on her website. Her business name; “The Alchemy of Beauty,” is “the magic of healing with light, color and customized high performance products for each client’s condition,” she said.

“I want to empower women to take care of themselves, by giving them the tools and the information to do so” de la Rouge said.

De la Rouge’s new book about her work, “Alchemy of Beauty,” will be available online soon.

After five years on Maui, de la Rouge catered to the Los Angeles clientele for a while, but found Santa Barbara more to her liking. Some of her clients prefer to leave Los Angeles for the treatments she offers on the South Coast.
