Controversially shown the door at Santa Barbara City College in July, Dr. Andreea Serban, who had been president of SBCC since 2008, appears to have landed on her feet, scoring a new job in Orange County. Since earlier this month, Serban has been at the helm of the three-school Coast Community College District (comprised of Golden West, Orange Coast, and Coastline Community colleges), working as their interim vice chancellor of Educational Services. Signed to a minimum 90-day contract that pays out a prorated annual salary of $175,000 for her new gig, it remains to be seen what exactly this means for her still-standing contract at SBCC. As per her severance package this past summer, Serban was scheduled to get regular paychecks on her $215,000 (plus benefits) yearly pay from SBCC for some 18 months or until she landed a new job.
