Navy Destroyer to Drop Anchor in S.B.

Wed Nov 09, 2011 | 12:00pm

A guided-missile destroyer — the USS Milius — will drop anchor off Santa Barbara’s coast on 11/10 and stay through 11/15. The ship’s 281-man crew is scheduled to attend the 16th Annual Military Ball, sponsored by the Santa Barbara Navy League and held at Fess Parker’s DoubleTree Resort on 11/12. The sailors will also take a tour of the Ronald Reagan Ranch and hit various Veterans Day events. Public tours of the ship — named after Commander Paul Milius, a Navy pilot who served during the Vietnam War — will be available on 11/13 and 11/14. Call Sea Landing at 963-3564 for tour reservations.
