DMV Drops Case Against Peter Lance

Thu Mar 15, 2012 | 12:00am

The Department of Motor Vehicles has dropped the case of investigative journalist of Peter Lance, who will get his license back as a result. Though Judge Brian Hill threw out Lance’s DUI case months ago after ruling he was pulled over without probable cause early in the morning on New Year’s Day 2011, the DMV has its own administrative process for a driver to appeal a license suspension. After his arrest, Lance wrote a multi-part series in the Santa Barbara News-Press investigating the conduct of his arresting officer, Kasi Beutel.
