Launching its cutter Blackfin on Sunday afternoon from Santa Barbara Harbor, the U.S. Coast Guard intercepted a panga boat, with 14 suspected migrants aboard, in the ocean 10 miles west of Point Conception. The Coast Guard received an anonymous call that the boat was spotted adrift, and it appears the 25- to 30-foot craft had broken down sometime in the day prior. The passengers were loaded onto the cutter and later transferred to Homeland Security.
