Garvin Theatre Opens on SBCC Campus

Garvin Theatre on the campus of SBCC held grand-opening celebrations this past weekend with guided tours for the public and a gala for a select few. The renovation, which began in 2009 and was funded by the Measure V bond passed in 2008, went over budget to the tune of $5.4 million and took longer than expected as construction plans were changed several times due to issues such as large amounts of asbestos and drilling requirements prompted by the soil underneath the theater.
