Five Men Arrested for Isla Vista Home Invasion Robbery
Armed with Knives and a Replica Beretta Handgun
Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies arrested five men from Ventura and Los Angeles counties for a home invasion robbery in Isla Vista Saturday afternoon.
According to a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, the suspects drove to a residence in the 6700 block of Trigo Road at around 2:00 p.m. Two of the men waited in the car while the other three forced their way into the home, the spokesperson said. Inside, they confronted at least six people.
Two of the suspects were reportedly armed with knives and the third held “a realistic looking plastic Beretta handgun which he used to pistol whip two of the victims,” said the spokesperson in a prepared statement. The three suspects grabbed cash, jars of marijuana, cell phones, and a laptop from the residence before fleeing.
The victims described the suspects and their getaway car to authorities, the spokesperson said, and a short time later a Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle driving southbound on Highway 101 in the Montecito/Summerland area. All five suspects were taken into custody following a felony traffic stop. They were booked into County Jail and charged with felony armed robbery and criminal conspiracy. All of their bails have been set at $100,000.
The five suspects are:
Colin Campbell, 18, of Oxnard
Miguel Valencia, 20, of Los Angeles
Darren Gales, 18, of Camarillo
Jaylen Stewart, 19, of Oxnard
Eric Stewart, 22, of Compton
