Deputies Arrest Man for Stalking Ex-Girlfriend

Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Carpinteria man on Saturday for harassing his ex-girlfriend, then arrested him again on Sunday after he bailed out of jail and was spotted lurking near her residence.

From May 17-20, said a Sheriff’s spokesperson, the ex-girlfriend filled three separate reports against 30-year-old Evan Connor. He was first arrested on May 19 on charges of “annoying electronic communications” and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies obtained an emergency protective order (EPO) for the victim and booked Connor into the Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $2,500. He was released later that day.

While on night patrol on May 20, deputies saw Connor in the neighborhood near the victim’s residence. “Surveillance was established at which time Connor was observed violating the terms of the order by entering the area within 100 yards of the victim’s residence,” said the spokesperson in a press release

Connor was subsequently arrested for violation of a restraining and stalking with a restraining order. He was booked back in jail with a requested bail amount of $300,000.
