Santa Barbara police arrested three men on charges of felony graffiti vandalism at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to SBPD spokesperson Sgt. Riley Harwood, two officers originally responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked in the 00 block of Via Alicia. They located a red Nissan Altima and spotted three individuals trying to hide behind it, identified as Jose Carachure, 19; Jesus Antonio Aguirre, 19; and Eric Rodriguez, 20.

As one of the officers approached the scene, said Harwood, he noticed “several different locations on the sidewalk, curb, and street, in addition to a water meter cover, that had been spray-painted with graffiti.”

Carachure, Aguirre, and Rodriguez all had paint on their hands and clothing consistent with the graffiti, Harwood explained. Around 131 square feet of property was vandalized, police estimated, resulting in $1,800 worth of damage. All three suspects were booked into County Jail with bail amounts set at $20,000 each.
