NBC to Show Local Olympians on KSBY-6

Santa Barbara’s Olympians will be featured on NBC’s flagship channel (KSBY-6) during the London Games. The network has included water polo and beach volleyball in its primary coverage, although telecasts on the West Coast will be delayed two to three hours after the events take place.

The U.S. men’s water polo team, coached by Terry Schroeder, will face Montenegro in its opening match Sunday, July 29. The actual time of the game will be 11:40 a.m. (Pacific time), and it will be televised here at 2:40 p.m., according to NBC.

Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser will take to the sand against Japan’s Kentaro Asahi and Katsuhiro Shiratori in beach volleyball at 2 p.m. live, and the telecast will be at 5 p.m.

Kami Craig and the U.S. women’s water polo team will make their debut at 11:40 a.m. Monday against Hungary, and the match will be televised here at 1:30 p.m.

Friday, August 3 – U.S. women’s water polo vs. China, 11:40 a.m./1:30 p.m.

In the final hours before Friday night’s opening ceremonies of the London Games, Sir Roger Bannister emerged as the favorite to ignite the cauldron. Bannister was one of Britain’s greatest heroes, the first man to break four minutes in the mile run, in 1954.
