The county’s Community Action Commission (CAC), a social service agency that works with more than 10,000 low-income individuals and families, got an online overhaul last month, courtesy of area advertising pros Mission Web Marketing.

The commission is one of the Santa Barbara’s largest nonprofits, with 400 employees countywide and an annual operating budget of more than $23 million. It provides a number of services, including meal programs for low-income children and seniors, teen outreach programs, and household energy-efficiency offerings.

CAC’s new website is the product of more than 100 hours of work by Mission Web Marketing, which began upgrading in June. Mission Web President Eric Petersen said the new website is far easier to navigate, helping to streamline the process for low-income residents searching for services in the area. According to Petersen, the new site is “completely redesigned … from the ground up” on a customized WordPress platform with a host of features for the nonprofit’s web managers.

Holly Carmody, CAC’s central administrative services director, said the new website’s layout should help families easily find and organize their options. Additionally, Carmody said the site highlights CAC’s target audiences.

The project is the latest big contract for Mission Web, which has contributed to or constructed websites for, The Santa Barbara Airport, The Granada Theatre, the Towbes Group, and several more area business in recent years.
