Library System Receives Literacy Grant

Santa Barbara’s Public Library System received a $50,000 grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to promote literacy among low-income kids eight and younger. A total of $2.5 million in grants was doled out across the country. S.B. library officials say they’ll use the money to develop a new program in which older children read with younger members of families.
