A 26-year-old woman and her dog were killed Saturday night as they tried to cross southbound Highway 101 lanes on foot near the Milpas Street exit. The woman was struck by multiple cars, the CHP reports, and was declared dead at the scene.

The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of family members.

The case remains under investigation, as the CHP says evidence indicates an unidentified Kia was somehow involved. The Kia is reported to have moderate damage to its front end on the right side. Anyone with information on the Kia or the incident in general should contact the CHP at (805) 967-1234.
