A Santa Barbara City College student was arrested in Isla Vista on Sunday morning for allegedly stealing property from a Del Playa Drive home and nearby cars.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, one of the apartment’s residents called authorities when they witnessed the suspect — 18-year-old Oliver Lim — in their home taking items. When UCSB officers and Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, they located a person matching the description given by the victim. Lim tried to run from the officers and deputies but was ultimately caught and detained.

“Lim was later found to be in possession of stolen property from the original residential burglary,” said a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, “as well as unreported vehicle burglaries in the area, including a GPS unit, Samsung TV monitor, credit cards, electronic devices, cell phones, U.S. currency, prescription medication, and checks.

He was booked into County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
