Once again this week, the 30th Annual Rincon Classic will not be held. Though it looks like some solid surf action may show up on Super Bowl Sunday, an essentially flat forecast for this Saturday has prompted contest organizer Chris Keet to call the two-day contest off for this weekend.

A yearly proving ground for Santa Barbara area surfers, the competition has been mired in a holding pattern since the first weekend of January due to less than ideal surf conditions and/or weather.

The next potential call for the contest is next weekend, February 9 and 10, with the final “waiting” weekend at the end of the month. Keet hopes to make a decision about next week by Wednesday afternoon.
