Isla Vista Resident Sentenced to Jail for Firing Gun in Air
Thomas Christensen Will Serve 240 Days in County Jail and Three Years of Felony Probation
An Isla Vista resident who fired a gun into the air on Sabado Tarde Road last November was sentenced Friday to jail time and probation.
Thomas Christensen, 22, pleaded guilty to the discharge of a firearm with gross negligence and was sentenced to 240 days in County Jail, three years of felony probation, and he cannot possess firearms, according to prosecutor Kevin Weichbrod.
Deputies, responding to a call of multiple gunshots, were directed to an address on Sabado Tarde. They set up a perimeter around 6573 Sabado Tarde. While that was happening, Christensen crawled out of a window of the residence, according to Sheriff’s officials, and he was detained. Witnesses identified Christensen as the man with the gun, and he was ultimately arrested. A search of the residence turned up several handguns, authorities said.
No one was injured during the incident.
