Koehler Winery in Los Olivos, CA is happy to announce its first “Paws for a Cause” one-mile charity walk through the vineyards! Walk around Koehler Winery’s breath-taking property with your family and friends – both human and canine – and raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society and the Dog Adoption & Welfare Group (DAWG) in Santa Barbara.

The walk will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2013 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at 5360 Foxen Canyon Road, Los Olivos, CA 93441. Children age five or younger and dogs are free of charge. Early registration tickets are just $25 per person and $30 at the door, and all proceeds go directly to these two worthy organizations. Wine tastings are complimentary for those ages 21 and older, and Cecco Ristorante in Solvang will be providing complimentary lunch to all participants.

Both the American Cancer Society and DAWG hold a special place in Kory Koehler’s heart. The Koehlers have first-hand experience with the pain and loss cancer causes in families: Kory’s mother, Jill, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1998 and passed that same year.

“It’s rare to meet someone whose family hasn’t been affected by the scourge of cancer. Without cancer research, there would be no medical breakthroughs, or survivor stories to be told. We all need to band together to raise money for cancer research so that breakthroughs can continue to be made,” said Ms. Koehler passionately.

The winery owner and her husband are also avid dog-lovers. They have two adorable rescue dogs of their own named Banjo and Lucky.

“Banjo and Lucky show us more and more each day what unconditional love and compassion really are. I think that’s what’s so special and unique about rescue dogs: their overflowing love,” she said.

Bring your dogs, friends and family, and help local dogs in need and the fight to end cancer!
