In late May, Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics issued an urgent announcement about its increasingly dire financial straits and asked for the community’s help in raising $1.5 million to ensure continued health care for the more than 16,000 patients who visit the clinics each year. Since then, individual donors and organizations have given just over $50,000, including $5,000 raised by Dance for Humanity during a benefit event and $15,000 collected by Pacific Western Bank at an open house for its new Santa Barbara branch. The Mithun Family Foundation has also pledged $15,000.
