At UniformDating.com we’re under no illusions as to where the long arm of the law’s power really lies; it’s all in their uniform, of course! A uniform is far more than simply work wear – it’s a status symbol, a badge of honor, a sign of discipline and respect.

From brass-buttoned blazers and shiny leather riding boots, to cowboy-style holsters and stiff-brimmed Stetsons, America is home to some of the most iconic and may we add lust-inducing cop uniforms in the world. But which police uniform is the most stylish? The most appealing? In short, the most attractive? That’s what we wanted to know!

Well now, thanks to a recent UniformDating.com survey of 1,000 people, we have the answer, and the California Highway Patrol was voted as the most stylish!

1. California – 17.06%

2. Texas – 11.02%

3. New York – 10.09%

4. Florida – 7.72%

5. Massachusetts – 4.4%

But what can we learn from these results? And what is it about the California Highway Patrol’s uniform that is quite so appealing? We’d hazard a guess that is has something to do with the highlights of azure blue – the shade of blue most commonly likened to the sky on a sunny day – seen on their badge, ties and the stripes running down their pants, which has Uniform Daters going weak at the knees.

The California Highway Patrol uniform in lighter colours is seen to be less threatening than the more traditional paramilitary blacks and blues of forces such as the NYPD.

So the dominance of the California police uniform suggests that as well as power and strength, people value a partner who is warm and easy-going. It’s also interesting to note that all of the forces in the top 5 wear hats. Police in hats – especially traditional hats such as the Smokey Bear – are seen to have more authority than those in more casual hats or none at all, suggesting that while many people want their partner to have a softer side they still long for a strong exterior.
