Zodo’s Taps into Wine Kegs to Accompany Beer Selection

Taphouse & Grill, inside of Zodo’s – Bowling & Beyond has always been known for their vast selection of beers on tap. In addition to the 40 beer taps they currently have, will be several new taps for wine. Even though they made a name for themselves serving beer, Z’s – Taphouse & Grill has always served wine, but stocking a wide variety, and making sure it was fresh was a challenge. The new wine kegs hold approximately 110 glasses of wine and last 60 days with little or no change in the wine flavors. The keg protects the wine from oxidation and keeps it fresher for longer than open bottled wines. This will allow Z’s to carry a wider variety of wines, and keep them fresher longer. The idea to install the wine taps came when managing member Terri Davis was wine tasting at Carr Winery, who have been kegging wine since 2009. Each wine is produced by owner and wine maker Ryan Carr at the winery in downtown Santa Barbara, and then kegged in stainless steel kegs instead of bottles. After a discussion with Jessica Carr about the benefits of wine taps not only to the wine, but also to the environment, Terri decided to add a few more taps in the Taphouse.

To launch the new wine taps, Z’s – Taphouse & Grill inside Zodo’s – Bowling & Beyond will be hosting a wine tasting event Friday August 9th from 6p-8p. They will be pouring four wines from Carr winery including a 2012 CVW Chardonnay, 2012 CVW Rose, 2011 CVW Merlot, and 2011 CVW Syrah, and pairing them with appetizers. The event will provide a great opportunity for Z’s to further build its “on tap” reputation by introducing an eco friendly alterative to bottled wine.

Zodo’s – Bowling & Beyond is a full-service bowling and entertainment center featuring twenty-four bowling lanes, restaurant, arcade, and pro shop. Since opening their doors in 2001 they have continued to improve the customer experience by adding special features such as Z’s Tap House & Grill, a full bar and restaurant inside Zodo’s. In addition to recreational bowling, they host birthday parties, a variety of leagues, corporate functions, and team building opportunities for businesses in the surrounding area and service over 250,000 customers every year. Zodo’s – Bowling & Beyond employs 65 people on the Central Coast and support numerous non-profit groups.
