The 805 Comes Alive On September 21

The 805 comes alive on September 21 with the inaugural Firestone Walker 805 Beach Festival from noon to 5 p.m. at Avila Beach Golf Resort, featuring three signature bands and a multitude of flavors from San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

The first announced band is Rey Fresco from Ventura County, offering a multicultural blend of rock, reggae, soul, world, and Latin music; Gardens & Villa from Santa Barbara County, offering a “galactic fever” of locally inspired sounds; and the Small Kicks from San Luis Obispo County, offering a uniquely soulful alt rock mix.

Ticket cost is $20 in advance, or $25 on the day of the event (if available). Ticket includes event and concert entry, and a commemorative 805 Ale Klean Kanteen pint glass. See below for ticket locations.

The festivities will include beach games and local retail vendors from the surf, skate, outdoor and arts fields. Firestone Walker Brewing Company’s 805 Ale and other Firestone beers will be available for purchase throughout the event. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the San Luis Obispo County chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, which is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the local coastline.

Attendees may purchase bites from an eclectic mix of restaurants and food trucks from across the Central Coast. The beach games will include an obstacle course and cornhole toss, with prizes offered to contest winners. A special 805 Ale surfboard will be raffled, with proceeds going to the Surfrider Foundation. Vendors and restaurants will be announced as the event nears.

“We can’t think of a better way to spend the last day of summer here in the 805,” said Jamie Smith, the brewery’s vice president of marketing. “This event is all about the music, flavors and lifestyle that drive the distinctive culture of the Central Coast.”
