Goleta City Councilmember Ed Easton may soon be leaving the council, as he is in escrow on a house outside the city limits, according to the city’s spokesperson Valerie Kushnerov, who added that Easton hasn’t yet filed an official resignation letter. If Easton does resign — a councilmember has never left in the middle of term before, Kushnerov said — the city will either hold a special election to fill his seat or make an appointment.

Easton has two years left in his current term; he was elected in 2008 and again in 2012. He previously served on the city’s Planning Commission and Design Review Board, as well as on the Old Town Project Advisory Committee. He currently lives in Old Town.
