The California Coastal Commission has asked that the county provide it with existing studies on the engineering of the rock revetments at Goleta Beach Park, a “completely routine” response to the county’s application to keep the rocks, said Renée Bahl, assistant county CEO and interim Community Services director. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in March to request that the rocks remain, a decision years in the making that was preceded by much speculation, especially in the race for supervisor for the 2nd District, which includes the beach.
